OACS services UM-owned computers in use by BSOS faculty and staff and reserves the right to deny support to personal computers. University owned computers must either have a University of Maryland asset tag, or purchase documentation. If either of these artifacts cannot be presented to OACS staff when requested, it will be considered a personal computer.
OACS can provide limited support to any UM-owned computer that is not physically located on campus. If standard remote support solutions are ineffective, then OACS will require that the computer be brought to campus for further support.
OACS expects all UM-owned computers to be under warranty for hardware replacements. Any computers that are no longer covered by a valid warranty may require the purchase of replacement hardware at the cost of the owning department.
In order to guarantee an exceptional support experience as well as compatibility with current software and security standards, OACS does require that all computers seeking support meet the following minimum specifications. Exceptions can be made at the discretion of an OACS staff member and are made on a case-by-case basis.
